A comment on new Draft Constitution
A comment forwarded to the New Constitution makers of Nepal
By logic whether it was on the basis of politics or law prevailed in the country at present, the task of constitution making was a responsibility of the Constitutional Assembly (CA), formed 7 years ago or in 1965. The first CA with 4 year term couldn’t accomplish the constitution writing and was dissolved for nothing but at the cost of billions of rupees owed to millions of Nepali laymen.. The second CA formed in 1970 has made public the first draft of the new expected constitution, 2072 b. s. in its 2 and half year time. The peoples’ views on the draft were collected in various gatherings of different people (voters) in different occasions and places.
I read out the comment in this regard in an audience on 12th Sravan, 2072 b.s. and 28th July, 2015 a.d. at Kamal Pokhari.
That was as follows:-
“The country’s only problem, at this moment was the lack of a person, that can lead. Same was the ‘Bad luck’ of us, the Nepali people, other than the few one who have been tapped back frequently by some so called political leader/s.
We didn’t have Mahatma Gandhi or Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru like in India, nor we had Mao-tse Tung  … Deng Chio Ping like in the Peoples” Republic of China . We had Gautam Buddha who has been established as ‘The Lord Buddha’ or The Lord Gautam Buddha’ in the Universe. That was our Glory and the big Fortune.
We had some heroes like Ganga Lal Shrestha, Dasarath Chand, Dharma Bhakta Mathema and Sukra Raj Sastri. They sacrificed their lives for the sake of Peoples’ Right or Democracy in the country long time back. We had a revolt in 2007 B.S. or 1951A.D.and eliminated the Rana Regime. Similarly, we had another revolt in 1963/64 B.S. or 2006 A.D. and kicked out the Shah rulers from the country. The late King Tribhuvan Bir Bikram Shah Dev put his Crown in dice for Democracy. We had Bir Ganesh Man Singh, B. P. Koirala,  Mana Mohan Adhikary, Puspa Lal Shrestha and a few other  and passed away in early days of  Democracy in Nepal. This way we kicked out ‘The King’ and finished the ‘Kingship’. The Country is ‘Leader-free’ now.

Now:- We don’t have ‘The King’, but hundred of Kings all around in the present political system. The present politics in Nepal is nowhere else no matter what the so called leaders of all the political parties say whatever on their own version since two and half decades last. Being Federal Democratic Republic system as they said while delivering long speech in various gathering in different times Every Kazi and Baaji has become leader/s as they have been well tapped back by political leader/s, no matter whether they were deserved to. Consequently, we, Nepalese have been facing multi kings – ‘Fake Kings’ – their poor qualifications, corrupt ideas and less experience. The ‘Fake Kings were none other than the Presiden / V. President or Secretary of the Students’ Organization or Union and Trade Union working under umbrella of certain political parties. They are stationed in every where or unit of services. Therefore, if one has to admit his/her studious and qualified child in a good school/ college or university these days he/she has to go to the president/v.president or secretary of the Students’ Union or organization or political chaps to consult/ask for favour, Similarly, if they have to admit some sick family member in a Hospital, they have to do the same. Not necessary to go to the rector v.chancelor or any other personnel concerned of the University or College nor the superintendent or the Doctor concerned of the hospital. Those political agent/s would do everything on their own benefit. They work for their party neither for institution nor for the country nor for the people. So even in the Legislative body the CA members do monopoly in the House meeting. They are very serious in the matter of the ‘Resources and the Executive power play’ discussion and on the discussion of distributing 5 million rupees at the name of regional development to each of the C. A. member. The House become full while discussing on those agenda/s otherwise hardly 25 percent of them attend the session if that happened to discuss on other National issue/s. So, we don’t have ‘The King’, but hundred of Kings all around in the present political system. Only way out we had, was to wait for the Good Days to come.

N Y 2072'S Pandora's Box

Honesty, Sincerity and Non-Politicized service is demanded
- Dwarika Pd. Shrestha
Alike the previous Years the New Year 2072 B.S. began with the month of Baisakh. Baisakh is the first month of the year in Nepali Calendar. But who knows that the Baisakh had come with Pandora’s Box, full of Earthquakes and devastation. The month of Baisakh, laid in between April –May according to the English calendar, came quietly and peacefully as usual and nearly half of the month was spent like that. By 12th of the month (25thApril, 2015) Saturday the Pandora’s Box opened and released a mighty Earthquake of 7.8 Richter scale in the town affecting most of the areas in and around the Capital – Kathmandu. The quake claimed thousands of lives and destroyed lots of properties including the historical monuments, temples, palaces, public as well as private buildings, roads and lands worth billions of rupees. The destruction continued because the big shock of 12th Baisakh was being followed by more than hundred aftershocks.

Another earthquake: On 29th day of the month (12th May, 2015), Tuesday the Box released second mighty earthquake of 6.3 Richter scale again. The effect of that shock being accompanied by another more than hundred aftershocks helped destroy and damage many other properties as mentioned above and claimed another thousands of lives, with special effect in the districts like Dolakha, Ramechhap, Gorkha, Sindhuly, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur and Kathmandu and some other areas of the country. Today is the 26th day of the bad happenings began with. The shocks are still continued in the areas and threatening the people and structures in the capital and around. By now the inhabitants have felt more than 250 shocks. The shocks were jolting down the areas more than 3 to 4 times every day. The casualties have exceeded 8200. The loss of logistics, lands and other properties was valued to billions of rupees. Proper evaluation is yet to be done. No any experts related to the calamity could have forecast properly yet when the continuation of the jolts could stop.

Global Co-operation: The bad days in Nepal were not worth seeing. Many countries of different continents in the world have assured to assist Nepal up to their best possible capacity. In the meantime, many friendly countries’ people of Europe, Asia or America have already reached to the victims even at remote places with tents, foods, medicines, money and other necessary clothes, while many other are still expected to reach to the spot very soon. The relief materials, funds and technologies are still pouring in the country. Still there are some other billionaires in the world who have already committed to help build up necessary houses to the sufferers in Nepal. In other hand, the distribution of relief fund, materials, medicines, tents and other among the sufferers in different tremor affected areas were going on under the supervision of the Government machineries but were sadly commented by the sufferers and other agents. The system was politically biased, they said. Many of the sufferers who could not have reached closer to any political party member have been ignored partly or completely, they added.

Be honest to needy people: Nepal, the small developing country is poor, of course. But on the contrary, she is full of rich resources, which is badly ignored and managed by the quickly raised and quick popularity seeking experts, legislatures and leaders. Therefore, lack of experience, study, visions, honesty ‘n sincerity to the people and the nation were the great defaults of the senior / junior political activists, experts in the country. They were not found sincere ‘n honest to the vow they had made to the people while campaigning for votes in the election, they claimed. The honest, sincere and non politicized management was badly needed at this moment.

Lesson: The present 2072 calamity has taught us a good lesson, which stated that like the high raised apartment buildings, which were found faulty in the present context of geographic, engineering and economic status, the quickly raised politicians, experts also couldn’t prove themselves equally helpful in the national context of economy and politics. Let us pray that a good person could come and join us for the better tomorrow.
