Poor country Nepal loses a huge purse of Rs.2500m.

A report made public by a FM radio on 17 Oct. 2007 said that more than 2500 millions of rupees (Rs. 2,500,000,000 or 2 arabs and 50 crores)were spent for the preliminary works of the Constituent Assembly Election (CAE)so far. The CAE was decided to be held on 22nd Nov.2007 or Marg 6, 2064 b.s. earlier. The CAE date has been cancelled at present indefinitely.

The said amount includes Rs.1250m. taken from the Nepal Governments's (NG's)treasure and more than another 1250m.of rupees being assisted by the foreign governments for the purpose. Earlier, the Election was decided to be held on Nov.22, 2007 by the joint consensus of all the 8 political parties including Maoist. The date was cancelled later on Oct.5 - meeting by the similar process in the meeting-hall of Baluwatar, PM's quarter. The new date of CAE is yet to be decided. In the meantime, the consecutive meetings of the 8 parties to find a new date has been discontinued undicisively and indefinitely.

However, the Election Commission (EC)authorities argued that there are plenty of logistics in stock with them and could be used whenever the election is conducted. The commission also had administered trainings to impart necessary technical know-hows to the government officials and other employees in this connection. They are ever-ready to handle election activities in the country, the EC authorities further said.

Anyway, this issue would be good tonic to the new investigation commission that could be expected next time under the new Government with new leadership. Is it not so?
