A tough journey to US education - Dwarika Shrestha

A student in the underdeveloped country wants to join a good college in abroad for better education and skill. The better education anywhere in the world is obviously very costly, and more costly in the developed country like the USA, Germany and other. In other side, the uncertainty of availability of the suitable job after the College and the University degree in the under developed country cause a great wastage of his/her life long effort and money in education and that compels new generations to seek opportunities abroad. The developed countries have their own management for it.

Attraction:
Good money, good food and entertainment are the attractions to every young folk. So good education, good skill that brings good money to buy entertainment, cars and good building is naturally has become the prime concern and a good attraction to them. The invention and application of computer studies and Information Technology (IT) in the developed countries have still raised its attraction and have made them addicted to it.

The developed countries are appreciated whatever they did in connection of the development of their countries and the people. The new inventions, new plans that was implemented successfully to achieve the good purpose for the welfare of the country and the people have made them one like a good example to be followed. The availability of good education and skill that is taught in the College/s in the developed countries thus make every student in under developed countries feel like to visit and join in (any of them) and learn them. They like to quench their thirst of enhancing good knowledge and skill and achieve good academic qualification, at least to earn more money if not for the sake of their country in its initiation.

Far and costly destination:
The United States of America (USA) is a distant and costly destination though it has become a best choice for many of the students in developing countries for the purpose. Among other countries are Australia, the United Kingdom, Japan, the Republic of Korea (South), the Republic of China and a few more. Nepal is one of the under developed countries. She has many things to learn and adopt them from the developed countries.

Visit abroad for education:
Going abroad for education for a student like that of Nepal is not an easy task. On top of that, flying over all the way from the lap of the Himalaya (the Mt. Everest), Nepal to the land under the light of Independent carrying on by George Washington, the USA, the other part of the Globe to a Nepali student, itself has become one of the big adventures in his/her life.

Sorting out of students:
Where ever you decided to go you need some valuable documents prepared to prove your genuineness i.e. the genuineness of being a good natural citizen of the country, the genuineness of the approval of the foreign University for his/her admission, the genuineness of being a member of the family and their affordability for the year long room and board and being a child of a rich parent who earns Rs. 120,000/m (rupees one hundred and twenty thousands per month), the genuineness of being a good student of the college in his/her mother country and the like.

Seeking genuineness of the factors as mentioned above were no doubt, could be essential one. Yet the financial capability that they seek in a form of a big property that worth a huge amount of money with a poor family of the poor country is needless to say that such requirements are ridiculous considering the fact that average gross income of Nepali family is around $130 per year. Their requirement that the head of the family should have an income of at least Rs.120,000/-/m. is still more fantastic.

Education, everyone's right :
The prevailing policy of issuing VISA to the students on the basis of such concepts has badly prevented the poor to take part in higher education. Education, after all is a 'Must' for each and every individual, whether he be a rich or poor. The respective foreign missions are very much aware of it. They are also aware of the economic, social, political situation and the people of the country they are assigned to. Thus their policy regarding VISA to the students of foreign countries should be based on such factors. And the developed countries should take care of it. Each one should have an access to the better higher education, it is an universally accepted truth.

How do they suck money:
It is an open lie that every poor or rich guardian does not want their kids to get the chance for higher study in abroad. They play all the gimmicks, they can, when they are made to prepare such documents to be presented to the particular office, despite that their own capacity to possess the real documents of the type was not in their favor. Many of them have become successful in doing so and many others failed, say 60/40 for example. They have to pay for many items in the process of gathering the documents and having them certified. The 60% have made it through. I believe the related agents must have helped them quite a bit. In other words, the 60 percent among the gimmick players have made their efforts effective going through several illegal means at the cost of sincerity and ethics of another who is acclimatized to earn easy money. The 40 could not play the gimmick yet, because either they could not approach the right person in right way or they were too sincere to fulfill the criteria that is required to maintain the fake pride of the visa policies. The embassies believe the documents presented to them and grant visas. Had the policies been made suitable to enter even the children of poor, the poor guardians would not have had to spend time engaging in and collecting fake documents. It would be a fair deal to both sides.

Conclusion:
If the Americans are proud of what former President Ronald Reagan said in his speech to the School students, “you go to the UK or Germany or Japan or France or anywhere else in the world and studied and stayed there for long period and applied for the citizenship, you wouldn't get. It's only in America where many people from different countries have got citizenship. It is our pride. ...”.The American government should avoid all those dramatic hurdles which has become very costly and caused to make a faked efforts to the poor to make an easy entry to their kids in an academic institution of the United States for better education. It's also an open secret that these hurdles has not been successful even to prevent any of the anti American elements to get-in in the State.
